Godly Husbands: Character Over Color.

In a world where people are often quick to judge based on appearances, backgrounds, or cultural assumptions, Scripture calls believers to look deeper. A godly husband is not defined by the color of his skin, his upbringing, or the opinions of others. He is defined by his relationship with Jesus Christ, his character, and the way he loves and serves his family. So this post is dedicated to my wonderful, godly husband who also happens to be very HANDSOME!!!!

What Makes a Man Godly According to the Bible?

A godly husband is not measured by worldly standards of success, popularity, or appearance. God looks at the heart.

A godly husband:

  • Seeks the Lord first.
  • Loves his wife sacrificially.
  • Leads with humility.
  • Serves rather than demands.
  • Shows patience, kindness, and self-control.
  • Takes responsibility for his family.

Lets look at the BIBLE:

“For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7 (NKJV)….

Let’s hang on to that, especially those who struggle with hate and prejudice towards SKIN COLORS. Feel free to pass along…what the BIBLE SAYS!!!!!!!

A GODLY MAN CAN BE ANY COLOR. My husband is white. He loves the Lord with all his heart, mind, spirit, and soul. Some people may HATE this, and unfortunately, that is just sad. We have been around those who can not stand a godly man who actually acts as a GODLY MAN. We know people who say they are “Christians” or “believers,” and you realize you are speaking to someone else who is not a brother or sister in Christ. The behavior and lifestyle will flow beautifully from a godly man no matter his skin color, eye color, bank account, or height!

Why People Judge by Appearances

Throughout history, people have struggled with judging others based on what they see on the outside. Culture, personal experiences, and stereotypes can influence how people view one another. History may influence some people. Hate and satanic beliefs influence others. What does your mind feel about people? What do you feed yourself daily? Just as you may eat, it is important spiritually to fill your mind with scripture, which is the TRUTH.

But Jesus consistently challenged people to look beyond outward appearances and examine the heart.

A man should not be praised or criticized simply because of his race, background, or appearance. The question Scripture asks is: Does his life reflect Christ? I am happy to report…my honey reflects CHRIST. Praise the Lord for God bringing us together and blessing us with offspring, three beautiful babies who love Jesus Christ, too.

How Stereotypes Can Hide True Character

Sometimes assumptions prevent people from seeing the person God created. This takes place quite often. Family, friends, strangers. What is also true is that people form their opinions based on what other people say about a person. Ignorance.

My husband….A husband who is committed to loving his wife, serving his family, and following Christ may still be misunderstood because of preconceived ideas others carry. Sadly, this is true. Is this you?

The danger of stereotypes is that they can cause us to judge someone before we know their heart. It causes us to think and judge when we need to get to know a person and use wise judgment.

You WILL MISS OUT on blessings and wonderful people if you just have an ugly heart towards people due to the shade of their skin.

Lets look at the Bible:

“Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”
John 7:24 (NKJV)

He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. 1 John 2:6, NKJV

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17, NKJV

Marriage is the most important relationship we will have right next to your relationship with Jesus Christ. What if any, is your relationship with Jesus Christ?

Marriage is more than a friendship. It is hard work that is well worth it. Taking your vows before the Lord is very serious. It is a COVENANT, NOT a CONTRACT!!!!!!!!! Who you marry is VERY important.

My husband and I have different shades of skin BUT we are both brother and sister in Jesus Christ. Heaven will not just look like both of us. We heard recently that a Pastor said, Heaven will not have “sections” of black here, white over there, chinese to the left and indians to the right. Sorry, nope, so go check your heart and read the BIBLE.

“After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands…..” Revelation 7:9 NKJV.

The hard work and sacrifice of a husband are not spoken about in our society. The world has promoted women over men. A husband provides for and loves his wife and family. Some women work, and that is okay. As I shared before, it can be much harder when working full-time (from experience). Your family should be the priority; seek the Lord whether you work or do not work. Your motives should be examined too. A husband, no matter his race or background, can and should protect, provide for, and love his wife and family. Am married couple of any skin tone can bring glory to the Lord.

Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. Colossians 3:9, NKJV.

Prepare your outside work,
Make it fit for yourself in the field;
And afterward build your house. Proverbs 24:27, NKJV.

Charles Spurgeon said, ““The truest Christian is the working man, who so labors for God that he does not neglect the common duties of life.”

Do not bash your husband. Bless him by being loving and respectful. Pray for him and speak kindly. Pray for those who speak ill about him, and pray for those who are racist and in denial that they are. Pray that they repent and seek Jesus. Surround yourself with godly, like-minded women who pray for you and your marriage. Pray for more friends like this. Those who live their faith in Jesus Christ.

A husband who prioritizes his FAMILY over friends. Who is WISE. Wise from the LORD, not YOUTUBE. WISE because he opens his BIBLE and reads it DAILY. A husband who enjoys his wife and has self-control. This is attractive. This is a blessing and should be sought out by single godly women. Thankful for a husband who loves Jesus, me as his wife, and his children. Thank you, Lord, for this blessing and for the fact that I get to do ministry with my husband.

No matter the skin tone. One can love Jesus Christ with all their heart, mind, body, Spirit and soul. Repent. We all sin and are broken. You need Jesus Christ.
