Women
In the Book of Genesis, we are blessed with the knowledge of creation. We are told how Adam and Eve were created and their purpose is illustrated in the scriptures. We should believe that as women we have value. Our identity is rooted in Christ. Unfortunately, the world, society, men, and women distort and destroy what God’s intention is for women.
Sadly, women are abused, sexualized, used as a toy, and treated as garbage. We find women who are sexually assaulted, posed as sexual models, and exploited for fleshly lusts and pleasures. This is NOT the will of our God. Women abuse their own bodies to get attention, to make money, and to make themselves feel better. Women are called derogatory terms and belittled as objects when they were created by our God. God has revealed in his word clearly his heart for us women. We should cling to this. We need to stand for what is TRUTH and not what the WORLD sees women as.
“So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them”. Genesis 1:27, NKJV.
“And the Lord caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the Lord god had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man”. Genesis 2:21-22, NKJV.
I wonder sometimes if this was all different. If as women we saw our value and the love that God has for us. I wonder if men saw this, especially believing, godly men, and that they would have a supernatural DISGUST for anything that DISTORTS EXPLOITS, and ABUSES women. What if men and women turned from their lusts and fleshly desires and realized that all of it is demonic, sad, evil, abusive, and a part of satan’s works? We can go back through the Word of God and see a pattern.
Women, how can we have more respect for ourselves? How can we strive to know more each day that our identity is rooted in Jesus Christ and no approval of any man? How can we pray and support each other as we live in this dark and polluted world that demeans women? We need to stay grounded in the scriptures and understand and value our worth.
…”women adorn themselves in modest apparel with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing but which is proper for women professing godliness with good works”. 1 Timothy 2:9-10, NKJV
Wives
Becoming a wife is one of the most exciting moments a woman will encounter in her life. It is something that many hope to have, a husband who would love them, adore them, spoil them, and most importantly honor and cherish them. As a wife, you want to have full trust in your husband, if the trust is not broken. Once it is broken whether through infidelity, broken promises, integrity issues, or anything else, it will take time to build it back up through processes(increments in my opinion). I believe it can be restored but it will take time and it is work, especially by the spouse who broke that trust.
Today, society portrays a different agenda for being a wife. You hear and see that “being married” is work and if it causes too much work, divorce is the best option. Marriage today is a “contract” when it is truly a covenant. Everything that God created and ordained is twisted and destroyed by this fallen world. We are finding that many young adults do not want to marry and are obtaining “contracts” to protect themselves. We see an increase in fornication and residing with each other before marriage. You know the saying, “Why buy the milk if you have the cow”. Honestly, becoming a wife seems harder in 2023 and beyond. To find a man that is grounded, striving to live and walk in the Spirit, and in the church is possible but difficult.
Additionally, we see that “being a wife” is too much for women and some just want to “check out”. Marriages are broken and homes are being ripped apart because both the husband and wife have no idea what the Bible truly says about their roles and purposes. They do not know and do not want to follow God’s word. That is a major contributor to broken marriages and homes.
Marriage is ministry. As a wife, we have a role and a job to be helpmeets to our husbands. We are to submit and be patient(yes this is hard and tiring) in this important relationship. We should have a marriage where our husband is seeking the Lord Jesus daily in his word and prayer, walking in the Spirit, and drawing near to Jesus. As we observe this obedience, hunger, and spiritual drive in our spouses this will not only encourage us but allow a natural, trusted submissiveness to our husbands. Wives pray for your husbands. Pray fervently, without ceasing cause the evil one will go after your home. Pray that your husbands will be praying for you and your marriage. I just wrote a post about how to have a strong marriage and hit imperative points that will show how to have a strong marriage. You can find that post here: https://bibleandcake.com/how-to-have-a-strong-marriage-that-will-last/
When we hang out and spend time in the scriptures we will find these verses below:
Again, God created Adam and did not want him to be alone. ” And the Lord God said, ” It is not good that man should be alone, I will make a helper comparable to him”. Genesis 1:18, NKJV
“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined together to his wife and they shall become one flesh”. Genesis 2:24, NKJV.
Wordly examples and advice
Do not depend on the definitions of the world of what a wife should be. Do not seek ungodly counsel on how the “ideal wife” should be a wife to her husband. There is too much garbage and untrusted sources in this world that you will beat yourself down trying to be something that God did not create you to be. Just as I stated above, as a wife we have value and should have a high value to our husbands. We should “be enough” to our husbands. Strive to be a blessing in your marriage. Prayer is key. It is so important. Do not neglect to pray. If you see or feel that something is not right go to prayer first. I cannot harp on this enough. Meet with Jesus about your issues, hurts, pains, and marriage. He sees every detail of it, even the ones you are missing.
In Hebrews 13:4, NKJV, “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge”. I also love this verse and a great reminder as a wife. “An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, But she who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones.” Proverbs 12:4, NKJV.
Mothers
You find in the very beginning of the Bible, God says, ” Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ” Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it..” Genesis 1:28, NKJV
I truly believe that being a mother is the HARDEST work but the most REWARDING. It is a 24/7 job that requires a “degree” in every field you can imagine. Mothers do not receive the credit they truly deserve and probably will never in this world. However, I know my God sees and hears every struggle, cry, and prayer lifted to him. Before, I start my day I pray every morning. Before I touch the phone or greet my children and sometimes my husband, I greet and acknowledge my Father. I seek him FIRST because as a mother, my days go too fast. I thank Him for another day I get to have because this is His will for my life. Every morning, among other things, I ask him for his strength and how to navigate through the day. We need it, right? We do not know what the day has for us but He knows.
As I compared and contrasted above, the world today has a different view of mothers. Birth control is one of the most prescribed prescriptions, girls are taught at a young age to “live their life” and then settle down, wait to have children, or NOT have them at all. Abortions are performed daily BECAUSE women find children a nuisance, expensive and that life at conception is appalling. The mothers that do have children are rarely caring for them because their profession pulls them away and the salary is what drives them. I know this may be controversial and many people have various views. I do know that the Bible is truth and with anything, I go to the Bible.
A working mother…..
When I was working, the Holy Spirit began to work in me and show me in various ways over the course of several months that he wanted me to stop working and to focus on our children and home 100%. I remember feeling uncomfortable with this “thought”. Clearly, it was not a “thought”. I can recall beginning to pray for MONTHS before bringing it to my husband. I remember the discussions and disagreements that this brought about in our home. However, I do know that being a mother, resigning, and staying home full-time was and is God’s will. I never neglected my children and/or home when I was working. Fortunately, I had a lot of flexibility as a Police Officer. The amount of leave and generous supervisors were beyond a blessing in that season. I also made sure that my home came first.
As our family grew, I started to realize that my work was getting neglected and the detective work I was assigned to would get neglected and stress me out. This is not right nor fair to the families who need attention. As the Lord began to show me and change my heart, doors were closing and opening for our family as well.
Proverbs 31:15, NKJV, ” She also rises while it is yet night, And provides food for her household, And a portion for her maidservants”.
Proverbs 22:6, NKJV, Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it”.
2 Timothy 1:5, NKJV, “When I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also”.
Titus 2:4-5, NKJV, ” that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed”.
What does it mean to be a woman? Whatever role you have know that it is imperative. Value it just as the Lord does. If you are a born-again believer in Jesus, you are a daughter of Christ, a sister in Christ. You are valued and loved. You matter. You have a purpose and no one can remove that from you. Do not put value on social media, the internet, celebrities, and physical beauty. All that we see is fake, airbrushed, photoshopped, and now AI bots. It is sad and sickening. Our younger generation is clouded with so much junk and as mothers we can take a stand to protect them. Seek the Lord in all you do and stay grounded in His word. Surround yourself with likeminded sisters in Christ who walk in a worthy way. I pray this is a blessing to you and that grow in your relationship with Jesus more and more!
