Jesus, Marriage and Mamahood

Children, Family

Traveling with young children

It is always a BLESSING and so nice to have a vacation. I truly believe we ALL need time to break away and relax, create memories, and embrace those close to us. As a young family of 5, we had the chance to pencil in that time and get away. This was not the first time my crew and I have vacationed together. Actually, we “tested it out” with Cupcake when he was 18 months old lol. I have to say, a vacation with children is completely different with just you and hubby!

Prepping for our special week

I am a planner. You have probably read this a thousand times on BIBLEANDCAKE.COM. I am NOT a “Last minute kind of person or, procrastinator”. I just cannot do it. Planning, coordinating, and having your ducks in a row is much healthier and more relaxing. So when we received Cupcake’s spring break dates, hubby and I stated that we wanted to take this time to get away as a nuclear family each year. We selected Florida(a short, easy flight with the babies) because of the weather in March. Well, I will get to the weather part later. LOL. Everything was planned and ready to go since December 2022! (Resort booked, flights set up, list of packed items for us, ideas, and a few backup plans).

Flights

We purchased our flights early!!!!! I loveeeee JETBLUE!!!!! They are family-friendly! We also love to fly out from one particular airport because it is 30 mins from our house. Again, with children, it is always best to factor in the driving, flights, and planning. So much more enjoyable to be able to minimize the meltdowns and exhaustion from the babies and you!!! I was soooo worried about how my Cakepop would do on my lap! He is so different from when Cupcake traveled at this age. However, it was great! He was awesome! I prepared with LOTS of snacks and activities!

Resorts

We are picky when it comes to where our head meets the pillow!!! I will not write much about this but booking early is always best for ANYTHING!!! Also, quality. You get what you pay for!!!!! Money can stretch further when planning, saving, and knowing what works best for you and the family.

Children schedules while traveling

Hubby and I tried to stick close to the kiddos’ schedule the best we could. It is so important because the trip is only “temporary”. I know children are resilient, but sleep and structure are always best. We were lenient with naps for Cake and Cupcake because they were older but Cakepop slept during appropriate times.

Packing

I packed so much for the babies and myself. I mean we were overweight in luggage! Being overweight in luggage means extra charges, which is not ideal. But, I was content and not stressed with the “what ifs” and being far from home. I just have the thought of if we need something we have it back in the ” hotel room”. I brought diapers, extra clothes, shoes, outfits, everything!! Maybe the whole wardrobe LOL. I was at peace! Thankfully, we didn’t need all of it but it was still good to know that we had it if there was a need!!!!

Final Thoughts

Overall, our trip was so fun. It is always special to see when your little ones embrace something new! We got to spend a lot of time together learning more and more about our babies and enjoying the time together. We also got to spoil them!!!!!

If you are contemplating on traveling with your kids, I would say go for it. It can be stressful but my keyword would be to PLAN. If you plan ahead it is less stressful. Do the plans always go the “right way” ??? NO, but if you have a Plan A, and Plan B I am pretty sure it will work out.

More posts to come! Thank you for visiting!!!!!!
