“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin”. James 4:13-17, NKJV.
I am a planner by nature! I like to think that I am pretty organized and desire to stick to a schedule that will always benefit the family and me. I dislike the chaos and disorganization that comes with life. If I can avoid it, I will. It is less stressful, more enjoyable, and relaxing when things go smoothly because of the planning, organization, and discipline to stay on point.
My husband and I have many dreams and aspirations that we pray about often and discuss together. We strive to serve the Lord not only individually but as a couple. Our plans and dreams can only be successful and have a strong foundation if God is at the center of them. We clearly know this by experience and what the Bible says. We both stand on this firmly and if we dismiss the fact that ministry is all Glory to God, then we are wrong.
In God’s Word, we see in the Book of James, the writer states, ” For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away”. James 4:14, NKJV. Life is short. We were all created to have a personal relationship with God. He gave us free will and we have to decide whether we want to have fellowship with Him or not. Our life is like a “vapor”. When I read that, I come to understand that there is not much time and I do not know when I will be called home to spend eternity with Jesus, however, my time here on earth is precious. I need to take value in that and I desire to do His will, not mine. My plans should be taken to God in prayer and I need to see if that is His will. He has never failed to not show me so I trust God will continue to make it clear. However, I know that my family is ministry. Through His word and prayer, I know that raising my children with my husband is what we are called to do first. We focus and dedicate a lot of our time to teaching and raising our children not according to society’s ways but biblical morals and values. The truth.
Pray about what you desire to do and/or where you desire to be. Ask God to show you. Daily, I ask the Lord in prayer that He will guide and instruct me as a wife and mother. None of it is easy. I need all the strength and guidance I can get!!!!!!
Psalm 18:2, NKJV, “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold”.
Invite God to be the center of it ALL. Not just what you want but EVERYTHING.
