Over the years, I often hear, “I am a Christian too”. “I love Jesus, too”. “I believe too”. The statements go on and on with no proof. Our Pastor said, Let me spend approximately 30 days around you and I can quickly say whether someone is a born-again believer or NOT”(paraphrasing his statement). The world we live in is an evil, dark, demonizing world that only promotes sexual sin, money, pride, lust- you know, whatever you want you can have, type of world. Murder, abuse, a godless world. A world that is filled with depression and sin. Self. A me and me and me type of world. What can I get from this world? How can I make more money in this type of world? How many women can I sleep with? How many men can I hook up with? Pornography. Misused technology to include social media, which also promotes sexual immorality and encourages lust and covertness. Idols. Suicide. Divorces. Transgenderism, Abortion. Martyrdom. False teachers and false gospel. These are HUGE.
We can live in this world and not look like the people in the world. As Christians, followers of Jesus Christ, we should look and act different. We cannot have both. Why should one be ashamed that they follow and believe in Jesus Christ? Why do you desire both? Because our hearts are evil and our motives are dark and deceptive. You may be reading this and is a person who is so unhappy and sad? Maybe you are disappointed how your life is going. You cannot and will not find fullfilment in traveling the world, engaging in multiple sexual relationships, moving all the time hoping the new location will bring happiness or “something new”, changing careers, making more money by striving for more promotions, staying busy with useless crap and the list goes on. Nothing will last. Nothing will work. None of those things I listed plus much more will fill the gap.
Partying, drinking with friends(drunkness), trips around the world, and more money in the bank account. Changing your hair and painting your body a different color will not make you happy. The plastic surgeon will become rich from your multiple appointments. Your body will die anyway. Where will you spend eternity? NOTE: If you are consuming alcohol AND becoming buzzed or drunk (drunkness), this is a sin. For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you. 1 Peter 4:3-4, NKJV. CHANGE. RUN AND FLEE from this world.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God”. Romans 12:2, NKJV. Read the Bible and APPLY IT TO YOUR LIFE. Study God’s word. It is not something to just check off ” your list”. Conformed to this world? We should not be looking like everyone else. Blending in. Can you let go of bad relationships that lead to sin? Do you want to let it go? Do you desire to do things that you know are wrong? Or wait…..do you even think it is wrong????????
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him” 1 John 2:15, NKJV. In our life, we know when we speak the TRUTH, people run. They roll their eyes, they get annoyed and frustrated because we(my husband and I) speak God’s word to them. What does the scripture say? We tell them…. It’s not condemning, it’s teaching and encouraging another one and sharing our personal stories….whether co-workers, family, strangers, people DO NOT WANT TO HEAR TRUTH. THEY WANT TO DO WHAT THEY WANT and DESIRE. “Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Galatians 6:1, NKJV.
“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law”. Galatians 5:16-18,NKJV
Examine your heart. Are you born again? Do you want to be born again? Do you want to have a personal relationship with the One who did it all for you on the cross? He isn’t dead. He isn’t Allah, Muhammad, many Hindu gods, he is not in the yoga practices, and he is not the universe….He is Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior, Son of God, Yeshua.
If you are reading this and you say you are a Christian but can relate to many worldly behaviors, or there is NO change. You look just like everyone else….if you want to: change, repent, and seek the Lord. Give your life fully and completely to Jesus!
Maybe you are worried that you will lose friends and know that a trip with the girls is not right or best for you and your marriage…maybe you know that you are participating in a sinful activity that you need to let go of….go to God. Repent. Be all in. Abide in the Lord. Pray. Go to God with what your worries are. Seek Him…be reading your Bible because His will is revealed in His word. You cannot grow in your walk with the Lord by sporadically reading scripture. You need to be consistent and organized to grow. Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you in this area if this is a struggle.
We live in this world. We are to speak the truth, which is found in the BIBLE. Being born again, giving your life to the Lord, is a CHANGE. There should be a change. The power of the Holy Spirit, the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the grave, resides inside of you. He loves you. There is PEACE in HIM alone. This is where we find JOY. Not happiness. Even when the storms come, there is PEACE AND JOY because our God has it all. He sees everything through.
When you say you are a “Christian, “….what does that mean? Does your life model a born-again believer of Jesus Christ? Reflect, confess, repent, and change.
This is not a legalistic life in Christ. Once you commit and decide to give your life to Jesus, and it is truly in your heart…by the power of the Holy Spirit, He will come to live inside of you. Life will not be perfect. You will have temptations and will fall short…However, as you draw near to the Lord, this will become less and less. If you are seeking the Lord, your lifestyle will be completely different from how it was before you came to Jesus. In the Book of 1 John 1:7, we read, ” But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin”(NKJV). Also, in the Bible, as a believer in Jesus, we read this: “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His” Romans 8:9, NKJV. We should not be living and indulging in sin. Yet, have an observable pattern of repentance. ” Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him” 1 John 3:6, NKJV.
This world is fading and the Lord Jesus is coming back, I hope and pray you will spend eternity with Him!
