Luke warm relationship with Jesus?
I do not know about you but I love and prefer a HOT shower. There is something about a lukewarm, cold shower that is not very enjoyable.
When we first moved into our home, something was not quite right with our master bath shower temperature. I completed a help ticket with the warranty and plumbing company responsible for these concerns. When the plumber arrived he had to adjust something behind the handle of the shower. To others, this may sound like an easy fix to such an important matter to my husband and me. He had me run my hand through the shower to see if it was the preferred temperature! It was HOT! Just the way it needed to be!
The Bible says in Revelation 3:15-16, NKJV, I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
This verse is filled with so much but one thing we can take from it is that Jesus does not like lukewarm. He rather has you be either cold or hot but not in the middle. You see, you cannot have it BOTH ways. You cannot have one foot in the WORLD and one-foot representing JESUS. Pick one and be all in. When I say all “in”. I mean fully committed and no turning back. Besides, you just cannot have both. Reread the above verse again.
In addition, the Bible says in Matthew 7:21-23, NKJV, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Have you invited Jesus into your life? Your behavior, choices, and actions should illustrate that PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM. How can I do this Tore? I have some suggestions to encourage you.
- Please be reading God’s Word daily.
- Get planted in a BIBLE TEACHING church. Be careful with this one. Match everything up with scripture/doctrine.
- Surround yourself with like-minded, mature, Godly people. Try serving/volunteering in the church. Attend Bible studies, classes, and small groups so you can set yourself up to meet and connect with other Believers.
- Evaluate what is in your life that does not line up with a “new creation in Christ”. Your language? A sexual relationship outside of marriage? pornography? lust? Drinking/drugs? Promiscuity? Partying? Relationships? ( surround yourself with people who will draw you NEAR/CLOSER to JESUS. )
- Make an effort. It should be the MOST IMPORTANT relationship you have. Please let that sink into your heart and mind. Nothing else should come first.
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits, you will know them”. Matthew 7:15-20, NKJV.
We all have free will. God gave this to us. It is up to each person to decide to accept Jesus into their life. Yes or no. We will not be perfect but we should yearn and strive to be more like Jesus every day. It should be a heart change. Born again, turning away from the OLD because you are a NEW creation in Christ Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV, ” Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new”.
Our relationship with Jesus DOES NOT give an excuse to SIN. (more on this later).
I pray that some of the suggestions above will be a blessing to you or someone you know. I hope you will desire to change if you have a lukewarm relationship with Jesus or no relationship at all with HIM. He is available to you. If you have turned away from Jesus, there is time to REPENT and turn back to Him. Live your life for HIm the right, biblical way.
