I love to have a clean home! I am constantly cleaning, wiping down things, and making sure the beds are made in the morning. I am a very organized and “neat person” with 3 young children. So when we had kids I wanted to make sure the house always stayed neat and clean MOST of the time! This helps minimize germs too. Here is a list of ways that helps me keep my home clean or even make me FEEL like it is clean 🙂
FIVE WAYS to manage a clean house:
- DO NOT wear shoes at home! We remove our shoes. This will minimize bacteria because the bottom of the shoes is DISGUSTING and will help keep the floors/carpets clean. Shoes track a lot of dirt.
2. Vacuum the carpets! Yes, do this at least twice a week. It helps a lot!
3. “Spot clean” during the week. I purchase a lot of disinfectant wipes and will wipe down the popular spots in our home. There are organic, natural brands as well. The popular spots in our home include bathrooms, kitchen, dining room table, bedroom handles and dressers.
4. Mop the floors. This is actually my favorite thing to do. I do this DAILY! Yes, every night when the kiddos are down for bed. It makes the house smell fresh and removes so much dirt!
5. Wash the dishes or use the dishwasher! A clean kitchen will make you “feel better”. If you clean as you go it helps a lot!
I hope these tips will inspire you! It helps me tremendously during the week. We have a housekeeping team come in periodically but with young children and two adults, I like to stay on top of the small things! When I incorporate these 5 things weekly it helps keep the home clean! Do not feel discouraged. Start with one thing and keep at it and then you can add something else that will help manage your home! It is doable!!!
Also, if your children are older they can help as well. They can make their beds, and put the toys and books away! Teenagers can help with dishes and some age-appropriate children can put the dishes away! Please share the things that work for you!!! Be blessed!
