The alarm clock goes off at 630AM AND 645AM. The days are long some are exciting and some are exhausting. When I click SNOOZE or END, I slap my hubby on the arm to get him up and then roll over to greet my Lord Jesus, thanking Him for waking me and giving me another day to do all this.
I get to be a Mother. I get to be a Wife. I am a Child of God. To invite Jesus into my life and to live for Him. A mother who gets up and grabs all three baby monitors each morning. To enter the bedrooms of all my children each morning, turning off the sound machines and pulling back the curtains is a blessing. It is an honor it brings a smile to my face and heart. A few years ago, I left at 430AM so I could get home to be with our children early. So to be a part of the morning routines I love. I love most of the responsibilities I have as a mother. MOST.
I dislike the dishes and poop. I hate the vomit and smell of it. Yet, I wouldn’t change being there with my babies as they vomit and are ill though. I want to be there to comfort them. I want to be there to wipe their tears and remind them that they will feel and get better very soon. I don’t enjoy cooking or planning meals. However, I love hearing, “Mommy this is the best salmon and jasmine rice”. Or I love your eggs Mommy and I won’t eat anyone else’s!!!! It is the small things that we can hold on to and what keeps us going!
I do not enjoy the potty training so much but I love the excitement that comes from Cakepop when he pees in the potty. I love cheering him on as he learns such an important skill.
Mama you are so important. Created to love and nurture each bundle God blesses you with. It will not be all easy and fun but it is so worth it. Every moment, even the not-so-fun and enjoyable moments, I TRY to hold on to and cherish because it goes too fast.
NO RUNNING in the house. But I love seeing all 3 follow each other and scream at the top of their lungs as Cakepop no longer is “bowlegged”. Keeping up with schedules to include hubby’s! Staying on schedule because the family thrives with stability and consistency.
The creativity they all have as they come together to play but the mess that it entails. Oh well. Let the house look a mess for a few hours from all the toys, blankets, and pillows. The mess that we clean up each day or have them clean up is a reminder that a family lives here. A family of 5. A family that God has blessed and continues to bless. Thank you Lord.
As the afternoon approaches, this mother is exhausted. All mothers are exhausted. Looking forward to the bedtime routine that begins at 630PM. The “shift” ends at 7 PM and picks up again by God’s grace in the morning. As the night approaches, it is a reminder that I GET TO DO this. ALL of it. Washing the clothes, wiping the tables, disinfecting toys and floors. I get to do this for my family. I am called to do this for our family. Thank you, Lord, for it all.
Nothing goes unnoticed. You do not need to be commended. You don’t need a reward. They are your reward. Motherhood. Messy, tiring, rewarding, awesome, exhausting and so much more.
To the mother reading this and feeling down, low, burnt out, happy, thankful, powerful. Whatever sweet spot you may be in during this season…. be thankful and take it all in.
