We are cautious about what we watch on television especially when selecting a show for Cupcake, Cake, and Cakepop. If you are tuning in to this website, they are my three children(6.5, 4.5, and 2.5 years old). With that said, we do not watch any entertainment that is “scary, spooky, magical or superstitious. It is not something we like to dabble with innocently.
The last thing I want to HEAR at bedtime is ….I AM SCARED because…..”
I have also learned that our children are very sensitive. What do I mean? They love dinosaurs and enjoy learning and reading about them but to watch a cartoon and see them moving…haha. Yup! Bedtime was a struggle that night because the “curtains looked like the T-REX”. I get it. It’s children and we have to navigate through this- I do it in my way and that is avoiding what I already know will make them uncomfortable at this age. As we always hear…children are all different.
To be scared and anxious is not a good feeling. The above is just a small example of how what we may see could implant thoughts and fear in the mind. The unknown can cause anxiousness. I know that is the case for me. I want to know as much information as possible. I want to make a plan and stick to it with very little wiggle room. I always have a backup plan and when it comes to our family organization, consistency is key. I am not patient with procrastination. Some people work opposite to me and that is okay!
Facing the unknown…
I was recently at the doctor’s office when I was told I needed some more testing. Okay! I responded I would schedule that today. To hear that I have to wait such amount of days, errks me! Waiting for a doctor to put an order in because it is the end of the week feeds my anxiousness because I stay at a standstill and cannot get moving on my end until that step is completed. To wait. To stop and pause. Not just for things like this but for ANYTHING. It can be hard. Scary and induce fear.
WAITING. Maybe there is a reason.
I have been in this position many times before in my life. God does not give us anything we cannot handle. I trust that. When you are fearful or maybe your children are going through the phase of being scared and not sleeping. Whatever it is…when you are facing fear. SEEK THE LORD. When you do not know the unknown. Press into YOUR SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. When your children are anxious and you see a change in their behavior or sleeping patterns. PRAY. PRAY OVER THEM. PRAY IN THEIR BEDROOM. SEEK THE LORD. Waiting on the Lord is hard but it is always WORTH THE WAIT.
..." Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In GOD (I will praise His word) In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?" PSALM 56:3-4, NKJV.
Having JOY during hard and difficult days….
Joy and happiness are DIFFERENT. I have joy because of my faith in Jesus Christ. No matter what, I have learned to praise through the storms and difficulties and so CAN YOU. This is NOT RELIGION. Knowing my security and peace come from my Lord is so freeing. We all face terrible, tough, and stressful days. We face death in the family, and bad news about health, work, and loved ones…we lose jobs, go through broken relationships, and face the unknown all the time. There is no way around it. We live in a broken and fallen world. My heart goes out to those who do not KNOW THE LORD JESUS AS THEIR LORD AND SAVIOR. I put this in Capital letters because of the importance. It matters. JOY and PEACE. It matters. You can click the link for more information and guidance if you decide to live for Jesus Christ: https://bibleandcake.com/i-want-to-invite-jesus-into-my-life/
"My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing...." James 1:2-4, NKJV.
How do you handle your fears?
Break the habit of masking your fears with nonsense and superficial methods. Most people are so quick to pick up an alcoholic beverage, cigarette, or marijuana, or fit in the drug of choice to mask any stress and opposition they face. Some are quick to manage their anxieties through relationships by using people to their advantage. Going to a “friend” who does not share or value the same values and morals as you will not fix the problem. Instead, go to the Lord. What I mean is to speak to Him in prayer and seek him in the word(BIBLE). Surround yourself with godly, mature, loving believers in Jesus Christ. Praise and worship are so beneficial for me because I know my trust and faith have to be in god alone. Whatever the circumstances may be, I have to trust him despite it being hard and scary too.
