We look around and just see the world running non stop, in circles yet is it all worth it? I was studying the Book of Ecclesiastes, which is a great reminder of what is truly important. The author, Solomon, repeatedly speaks about vanity and how pretty much the cares of this world does not matter apart from God. It is such a great reminder to me when I feel like I have to keep running and checking off the “to-do list”. What if we just stop and look at what truly matters? Let us pause and reevaluate our schedules, priorities, and how we choose to live here on earth. We are not promised tomorrow, so we should be living in a way that is pleasing to the Lord and valuable to His Kingdom and our family.
As I study this book, the author does through all the things he accomplished. That sticks with me because I can make a list of all the “busyness” that shouldn’t be on my list! I want to encourage others that some things we do not need to do. Evaluate the motives behind your actions. We have to step back and see if there is true value and evaluate. Solomon had tried everything “under the sun” and nothing made him happy. Observe the world and look at yourself. Are you doing things to make you happy….the wrong things to just stay busy and to get a “fill of happiness”? Remember that the Lord has all we need. We find JOY in his presence and when we seek Him daily and nonstop. Nothing in this world will make you happy apart from God. The world and a personal relationship with the Lord do not mesh together.
In conclusion, Solomon states, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man’s all. For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing whether good or evil” Ecclesiastes 12:13-14( NKJV Bible).
Fear GOD! and KEEP His Commandments…..yes we are not perfect but we should be yearning to be more like Jesus daily. The only way we can do that is to stay close to Him, in prayer, and in His Word even when we “don’t feel” like it. Look at our Priorities, is God first? what is first? Keep His Commandments….we should know what they are and seek to be obedient.
Let’s not get caught up in the things that do not matter. Stay focus and run the race and seek the Lord!
