When we bought our home, I was thrilled that the house plans had a porch. I love porches. There is nothing better than sitting out in the sun and people-watching, reading, or scrolling through my phone. I enjoy sitting out there with Cupcake, and Cake and running around with Cakepop. Since moving in, we have been getting to know a few neighbors adjacent to us. Everyone is friendly. I am thankful for that.
When you are tired and lost:
Sitting outside, I saw a woman from across the street painting on her porch. She began hanging things that I knew were associated with her beliefs and religion. I wondered how many people hang onto the superficial, idealistic practices that will just keep them entangled because there is no freedom. Everything is ritualistic. Religion. To do more and more and good and good. But nothing comes from that. You will become so tired and fatigued chasing after the things that are not meant to be your god. It may make you feel good for a period of time. It may feel good thinking if you paint on the ground of your porch, spirits and good luck will come. Putting lights on the exterior of your home will not bring wealth and goodness. You will wonder why you are so tired and exhausted because nothing is good enough. We were not created to live this way.
What did Jesus say?:
As I stay home each day with my family, I get to see almost everything in our home. It is a joy because I missed most of that during the morning when I worked outside the home. To greet my babies in the morning (unless they specifically ask for their daddy!!) brings a smile to my heart. They wake up fresh every morning ready to tackle the world with all their energy. They slept through the night for 11-12 hours and now they look for their breakfast and school assignments prepared by their teachers. They are eager to learn and excited to see what the day will bring to them. I remind them every day, “Today is the day the Lord has made”. You can find the verse in Psalm 118:24. My kiddos hear it every day. I want them to know that we cannot take each day for granted. We all have a purpose and it is a blessing we get to do life. We are called and created to be with Jesus. Fellowship and union with Him. It is not enough to just “know” HIM. We need to abide in him.
"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit: for without Me you can do nothing". John 15:5, NKJV.
How to become refreshed and renewed:
We have to sit with Jesus and give him our time. This world will run you tired and kill you. The false gods will do you no good. Pay attention to what you worship. What are you believing? My heart aches for those who are lost. Trust me, I was there. I was lost. I am sad to see those who are tired because they are running a race they will not win.
