So I had to drop off a form at the Pediatrician’s office last week! I was “minding” my business, both Cakepop and I. As we walked in, I noted a “weird-looking” individual existing in the building. He was about to leave as we were walking inside towards the elevators. When I say weird, I mean strange, up to “NO GOOD” type of person. I mean someone who may not be in the area for the right reasons. Yes, suspicious, awkward type of behavior.
Cakepop and I walked towards the elevators. Yet, the same individual who made me feel uncomfortable turned around and walked toward me. I stepped back. I walked back towards the front door acting as if we forgot something and a phone call was coming in. He was surprised and mumbled something but I let him go ahead on the elevator.
I waited for a few more people and hopped on the elevator with them. Cakepop was in the stroller waiting patiently. As we arrived on the 2nd floor we proceeded to take care of what we went there for. As I was chatting with the receptionist, the same male walked into the office and said something to me. I said get back and leave me alone, I do not know you. He followed me inside the office. At that point, it became a safety issue and I felt as though he was following me. I made a call to the Police Department and they were in the area ACTUALLY looking for this individual. They arrived within 5 minutes to my side. So was my husband, who called immediately about the situation.
Again, I noticed this individual quickly as I walked into the building. After much training as a former Police Officer/Detective, life experiences, knowledge of my surroundings and always being “on guard”, it is very easy for me to sniff someone out who is up to no good. I do not know what his intentions were, but I am thankful that I spotted him from the beginning. We need to be like this on a SPIRITUAL level too. Guard our walk with the Lord. Protect our relationship with Jesus.
Be mindful and alert
Let’s step back. Yes, we are safe, by God’s protection and provision, no doubt. Yet, if we look at this in the way we should in our walk with the Lord we can find imperative points that will only foster our relationship with God:
Pay attention to where you go. Be mindful and protective of who you like to entertain in your life. Darkness is everywhere. The Bible says Satan prowls around like a lion, ready to devour…You should be guarded up with the WORD OF GOD. We need to be grounded covered in the word and walking in the truth. Are we all perfect? No. No one is but this is NOT an excuse to do what your flesh feels like. This should be the main reason you want to walk in a way that is blameless, loving, godly, and pure.
Our eyes and mind should be clothed with God’s Word. When we are reading and soaking the Word into our hearts, and minds, it is not only a great thing but it is life. It will sustain us when it gets ugly, hard, dark, depressing, so hard that we want to give up.
When you are close to the Lord, you will be able to sniff out the things that are not good for you. You will know what is darkness, and places that should be avoided, and you will not desire the things that you use to in your past. Your friends will change, they may leave too because you are DIFFERENT. That is a good thing. The desires will change and so should your surroundings. Your intentions should change. Your language and the words flow from your mouth. The way you act and conduct yourself. It should all reflect your beliefs and relationship with Jesus. Pay attention to this. Change where you need to.
I pray that you will have discernment, wisdom, and guidance in all you do.
May the Lord bless you and I hope you will seek to draw near to him even more today.

Thanks for sharing this experience and glad things turned out well. This was a reminder for me to not undermine spiritual discernment !
