It is that time of the season….
It is that time of the season and you are probably observing the world run around crazy! You hear the “To Do things” and all the people running around shopping and spending money on the “best gifts”. The typical person is probably making a guest list for all the friends and family to come over for Christmas. Decorating and buying things we probably do not really need? People spoil their children because that is what they expect. Do not get me wrong, Christmas and Worship music is blasting in our home right now! Our Christmas Tree, a few decorations, and ornaments are on display! Yet Cupcake and Cake understand that Christmas is a time of rest, family, and most importantly a celebration of our Savior Jesus Christ. They understand that they will be home from school because of these reasons. Cakepop will follow and learn when he gets to that appropriate age of understanding however, he is still read and spoken to about what the Holidays are truly about.
What is Christmas to you?
For unto us a Child is born,
Isaiah 9:6-7,NKJV
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
If you are a follower of Jesus and understand in your heart what Christmas is about, my prayer is that you will be able to enjoy and worship on this day. It is a time to be thankful and worship what God has done for us. He sent his SON, Jesus into the World to save us. It is so sad to see how the world has turned the true meaning of Christmas upside down and completely removed Jesus. Our children know what “Santa” is. A man in a costume who claims to come and give gifts on Christmas when it is really your parents or caregiver who places them under the tree. They understand that some people like to celebrate Christmas utilizing Santa and that is okay but we do not celebrate Santa in our home. When the Christmas songs come on with “Santa” they sing along and that is okay too! Yet, my husband and I believe that is it imperative they know at a YOUNG age that Christmas is about JESUS and nothing else. It is about our SAVIOR. When we discuss and celebrate HIM, they enjoy and grow in their faith. We have quite a few traditions we have implemented in our nuclear family since we had Cupcake. Our children( Cakepop is learning) look forward to the celebration on Christmas so please do not think that just because Santa is not invited to the party, the party is boring. It is so much fun!!!
In our home on Christmas there is calmness and peace….
When Cupcake was a baby we hosted Christmas for both sides of the family at our new home. It was also Cupcake’s first Christmas. So when you think about it- housewarming, first baby’s Christmas, and Christmas. Yeah NO thanks, not fun, and a huge conviction that evening from the Lord. It was chaotic and I do not remember anything but running around entertaining family. We refuse to do that again and although people may have opinions on different ways one can entertain, in the season we are in now( three young children) we will not be hosting. Our home is always open to stop by and say hello but it will be a place where we can worship, rest, and enjoy each other. It should be a time when our children can enjoy being home with their parents and have their parent’s undivided attention and love. It is extra time when children should be nurtured and taught the Word of God and have conversations about God’s Word, giving, and loving. We will have a small, delicious, SIMPLE meal that will not leave me in the kitchen from my family. Time flies and I believe that every moment should be special and not wasted on things that are not very imperative.
Our home should be calm and peaceful avoiding the things that cause stress like cleaning the home, running around serving people, cooking all day, planning an itinerary to please people, in addition, caring for three young children and your spouse. This is not what Christmas should be about.
Final Thoughts….You do not have to stress. Remember the true reason behind this season.
We cannot wait to celebrate Christmas with our family! Our children are excited to have the tree up and have selected a few items they would like to open as we celebrate Jesus. Additionally, they were very happy a couple of weeks ago to pack and give some toys to children who do not have much. They are learning that many children and families have needs and that if they are blessed to give. They enjoy giving and we hope and pray as they grow and mature so will the seeds in their hearts! My husband and I are so blessed to have our three babies and to teach and model God’s Word is an honor. We do not take it lightly. We are all held accountable, especially those who are parents. I want to encourage all who are reading to keep teaching their children morals and values according to scripture and not society. There will be so much pushback because the World is not for the Bible and Jesus. Please do not let that discourage you.
All for Jesus! Merry Christmas!!!!!!
